Create a free account on your state's Community Exchange System (a time bank platform). Use the CES to exchange goods and services, without conventional money.
You can help with various community-supporting events available in your area, as it fits your schedule. For example: feeding the homeless, swap meets, "repair-fests," delivering meals to the infirm, and more. Contact your CES admin if you have an idea for an event you'd like to organize. They can help you put an announcement out to the people in the network, and advertise locally.
We are currently working to build a RING network in every town and city... if one is not built out in your area yet, you can Contact us for ideas on how to build some RINGs in your area.
A Neighborhood RING is a small group of people who live near each other, and who are dedicated to helping each other meet their material needs, learn new skills, and prepare for contingent situations. Neighborhood RINGs meet for 2 hours per week, for the duration of a year. You will be "paid" for your time using the CES of your state. During the year, you will be trained in how to grow and prepare food, repair machines, build helpful items, attend to basic health needs, and other skills necessary to survive this time of economic collapse. You will also assist your team mates in solving problems they are facing, while they help you solve your problems. It's like being paid to take classes and be in a support group, all in one!
(If you aren't sure whether you want to do this yet, you can attend a meeting in your area, to see how it works. Contact us to find a local meeting near you.)
To build out the network of community care and support, we need people filling lots of positions! You are "paid" by the hour using the CES of your state. Most positions will require 20-30 hours per week, but some positions can be less. You must be part of a Neighborhood RING for at least 2 months before being eligible for a city/district/state leadership role. After 2 months, contact us if you are interested in a leadership position!
Getting started is easy! You can participate at any level you are comfortable with.
